Brookhaven

Brookhaven, a northeastern neighborhood of Atlanta, was one of the first planned golf course developments in the United States. It is on the list of National Historic Places, and is a popular residential area with a mix of housing that includes cozy bungalows, stately single-family homes, luxury townhomes, condominiums, and modern lofts. Peachtree-Dunwoody Road separates Brookhaven from North Buckhead to the east, and together they represent some of the most affluent areas in the entire city. Brookhaven boasts five city parks — including one with a lake — and at least an equal number of celebrations and festivals. It may not have as many restaurants and clubs as some other neighborhoods in the northern sector of Atlanta, but you won’t lack for activity if you settle here. One of Brookhaven’s defining characteristics is that it has recently become its own city. Of course, even though it is DeKalb County’s newest municipality as of 2012, most people still consider it a part of Atlanta’s rich tapestry of neighborhoods.
